Beach hut style

I’ve never been a particular fan of seaside style – stripes, driftwood and bunting – but there is something about a British beach hut that is hard to resist.

My family and I spent a happy high-tide afternoon playing on the steps of this row of beach huts at Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight. Toddlers know that a miniature version of a house in sweet shop colours is something to be relished and won’t let any little things like sea spray or them not being open deter them.

In honour of my afternoon, here are what I would furnish a beach hut with:

2. Hamman towels

3. Jars to fill with my children’s finds
